Frequently asked questions
How old must I be to be tattooed?
In the great state of New York , you must be at least 18, there are no parental
consent exceptions.
How do I make an appointment?
All of our artists are currently ONLY doing consultations online and handle their own bookings. Check out their individual pages for best ways to book.
Most of our artists book many months in advance and intermittently close their schedules to catch up. Follow the artist you are interested in on their own social media pages to keep updated about schedule preferences and last minute openings or flash sales.
A non-refundable deposit will be required to hold the appointment, amount being set by the artist. Deposits come off the cost of your tattoo and are forfeited with no-shows, short notice cancellations, and unreasonable lateness.
How much is my tattoo going to cost?
We charge $150-200 per hour depending on the piece, with a $100 minimum. Some of our artists are very fast and decide to charge by the piece instead. Any budget restraints should always be discussed in advance.
Will you come to my house?
Absolutely not. Tattooing is safest in a facility designed specifically for the
strict cleanliness requirements in tattooing.

Cleanliness is important, what do you do to provide a safe
tattooing environment?
We complete annual Bloodborne Pathogens and Infection Control training to keep up to date on best practices and ever-advancing safety procedures. All of our artists use a completely disposable set up for every tattoo. Nothing needs to be sterilized because it is always brand new for every client. All of our equipment is either covered in plastic AND disinfected or it is completely disposed of when the procedure is complete.
How can I best prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Make sure you keep your body in the best shape possible before your appointment. Get a good night sleep, eat a full meal, and be well hydrated. Don't be drunk or hungover. If you are drunk or high, we reserve the right to not tattoo you. Many factors can effect how well you can tolerate tattooing, how long you can sit, and how your body reacts to being tattooed. Tell your artist if you have any health conditions or take any medications that could be a concern.
Will it hurt?
Yes, but almost always a bearable amount and varying depending on the design, the size, the placement, your own pain tolerance, and the condition your body is in (see last question). Ribs and feet tend to be worst. Don't let pain dictate the location or size of your tattoo, the pain is temporary, and you don't want to regret getting that tattoo where you imagined it.
What is the best way to care for my new tattoo?
Aftercare is hugely important! Not only do you want your tattoo to look fantastic, but a new tattoo is actually considered an open wound, so taking care of it is also important to prevent dangerous infections. I have very specific instructions:
- WASH YOUR HANDS! Never touch your fresh tattoo without washing your hands first.
Don't let friends, curious strangers, or pets touch your tattoo.
- Remove your bandage - DO NOT REBANDAGE your tattoo needs air.
- Wash your tattoo as soon as you get home. Continue to wash it 3-5 times per day. First thing in the morning, last thing at night, when you get home from work or school, any time it is dirty, and any time it feels dry and in need of ointment or lotion.
We recommend a LIQUID pump soap (no bars!!) such as clear Softsoap or Dr. Bronners baby soap (well diluted). Antibacterial soaps are not always necessary, all soap is antibacterial by nature, and the antibiotics can be harsh on a fresh tattoo.
- Pat dry carefully with a PAPER towel.
Cloth towels can harbor bacteria and gross fuzz.
- For the first 2 days, apply a very very small amount of Aquaphor, and rub it in till it is a very thin, moisturized but breathable layer.
Remember, your tattoo needs air! Apply it every time you wash your tattoo, and always wash it first!
- On the 3rd day, switch to lotion instead of Aquaphor, keeping the same cleaning routine.
We recommend a scent-free, color-free lotion, most brands of sensitive skin lotions work well. Continue this routine for several weeks.
- NO POOLS, HOT TUBS, OCEANS, LAKES, OR ANY SUBMERSION IN WATER
for at least 3 weeks. Avoid tanning - forever. After your tattoo in healed, always wear sunscreen!
Constant sun will quickly destroy a beautiful tattoo, fading colors, yellowing whites, and blurring crisp lines.
- Be mindful of the surfaces that your tattoo comes in contact with.
For example- Wrist and forearm tattoos come in contact with tables, desks while typing, dirty dishes, etc. Germs are everywhere!
